Formally trained as a biologist, Ordovich graduated in 2009 from
Arizona State University with a B.S. in Conservation Biology with
Summa Cum Laude honors. During this time, he developed a good
taste for the outdoors (ref. John Muir). While studying medicine
abroad in the West Indies, he established and became president of the
Sailor’s and Mountaineer’s Club, summiting several of the tallest
volcanic mountains on the island (Morne Diablotins, Morne Trois
Piton), and organized expeditions to the world’s largest boiling lake
which is in the heart of the Morne Trois Piton National Park.
Needless to say, the West Indies has been a focus for a great deal of
his creative work. Other experiences include hiking the Antrim
Coast in Northern Ireland, exploring Palenque, Mexico for the end of
the Mayan Calendar Celebration, and extensive voyages to Ouro Preto,
Brazil to name a few. Ordovich illustrated a number of these experiences in a graphic novel series titled “The Meridian Quest”.
Ordovich’s illustrations express the adventurous spirit through humor as well as the esoteric. The adventurer and hero protagonist is a primary theme in his works, with influences pulling from early American ornithology (ref. Alexander Wilson) and the visionary quest (ref. Don Quixote). His vernacular religious imagery is reminiscent of William Blake with hallucinogenic themes and engagements with the mystical evocative of colonial S. America. Ordovich excels at small, devotional pieces demonstrated by intricate details leaning towards a sepia pallet of dust colors and oranges, as though a rising or setting sun casts a perpetual lazy glow upon the works. As a practitioner of magick, Ordovich often references Pamela Colman Smith’s tarot as both an artistic and mystical inspiration.
Musically, Ordovich trained in Classical Piano Performance for over 15 years under the direct guidance of Russian concert pianist Stella Saperstein (1990-1997) and Avea Meyers (1999-2009). In 2003, he began giving private music lessons for Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced students in London and NYC. As a multi-instrumentalist, he is proficient in Piano, Acoustic/Electric Guitar, & Accordion with a musical expertise in Classical, Rock, Blues/Country, & Indie music genres. Ordovich’s style of “Dream Pop” is infused with transcendental narratives and classical oceanic ebbs like Moody Blues meets Claude Debussy. Stemming from the punk rock tradition of Clash & co. one can sense the raw energy and rock & roll spirit of his electronic music. All music is composed and recorded at his studio in Tempe, AZ with the use of acoustic instruments, symphonic interfaces, and midi keyboards, providing a deep cinematic quality to his records.
Ordovich is a composer, author, & illustrator
